The Province has declared Drought Level 4 for Vancouver Island; as such Stage 3 Water Restrictionsare in effect immediately. Cowichan Bay Waterworks sincerely request compliance with Stage 3. The main reason for this is that our wells are capable of pumping 1575 cubic meters per day. For three Tuesdays in August, over 1500 cubic meters were pumped. Average daily use for the rest of August was 1200 cubic meters per day. Secondly, this wear and tear on the pumps collectively costs all of us all more and the BC Hydro invoice for August for the pumphouse was $1950.54 [averages $1000/month]. The current drought is very serious and we thank everyone in advance for their conservation efforts. The Watering Restrictions are available on the right hand side of the home page.
